2012, it's nice to meet you.

This is going to be my best year yet.

Why? Because I've decided to make my New Year's Resolution to be "Commitment".

This is my year to commit... To commit everyday to Jesus. To commit and marry my best friend and fiancé, Sam Thrall. To commit to graduating and finishing university well. To commit to not waste my life and days this semester. To commit to being money savvy and saving any money I make. To commit to stay in touch with close friends and family when I move to Montreal. To commit to love Jesus, my fiancé, my church and my job in that order. I commit to saturating myself in the Word. To commit to surrounding myself with people who encourage, rebuke, and lead me to love Jesus more.

I haven't been great at these things. But by God's grace I will persevere. These past 6 months have been some of the most challenging and trying of my life. I need to remember that He withholds NO good thing. He has placed me in the circumstances I am in. He has promised to work all things out for His glory and my good. He will sustain and provide all the things I stress about... I just need to love him more. "You will seek me and find me when you seek with your whole heart." Jeremiah 29:13

So that's my resolution. To seek Jesus with my whole heart. Only then will all my other commitments fall in place. Through loving Jesus I will love Sam more, I will have nothing to worry about in terms of school and my anxieties - knowing that He is in control and both sovereign AND good, I will be less wasteful and more aware that everything I have is because of Jesus and for Jesus - live with an open hand, I will value relationships more and strive to love others like Jesus did.

  1. I know I haven't seen you in a while but I am still going to miss you when you are gone. I am happy for you and Sam and exciting for you to start your life in Montreal but I am still sad to see you go. The upside is that when I visit my dad I might be able to see you. :) xoxo, Mareika
