A wonderful weekend.

As you probably know, I spent this past weekend in Montreal visiting Sam and friends (new and old :) )

Three words: I LOVE MONTREAL.

Man, that place is so wonderful! There is such character to that city, unlike Toronto, it isn't all sky scrapers and a booming metropolis but rather a beautiful city where every street seems to have a story along with its independent restaurants and beautiful old buildings.
{Sigh}

Sam and I had the most wonderful four year anniversary. He took me to this DELICIOUS restaurant called Griffintown Café. Oh.My.Goodness.YUM.

Not only is the restaurant itself beautiful - exposed brick walls and the kitchen is open and in the corner so you can watch them make your meals - but the food is delicious AND they have delicious private wine collections AND live jazz music. HELLO, does it get much better?!

We ended up eating and talking for almost four hours... the waitress was very relaxed (which was refreshing, considering in Toronto they try to boot you out of there as soon as you finish your meal) and didn't try to rush us at all.
It was by far the BEST date I have ever had. Sitting, talking with the man I love, eating delicious food, listening to live jazz.

I feel so blessed that I am head over heels in love with my best friend. Sam is - apart from my Saviour- the greatest gift of love the Lord has given me. To be able to spend four hours talking about life and plans and what our hopes are and what we want to do in life and what we pray for each other and our cities and where we want to end up - and the list goes on and on.

Not only did I get to spend a whole morning with my dear friend Marija, I got to stay with the wonderful Dwight and Jess Bernier and their sweet little son Nehemiah! It's amazing how you can only have met someone once before and yet you feel like you have known them your whole life! That is what I have with Jess. She is LOVELY. So cool to meet someone my age, who is in a completely different part of her life. How wonderful it was to spend five days chatting, learning, loving on, cooking with, praying with, hanging with and laugh with her {and her fam, but especially her}.

I feel so blessed to ALREADY have such good friends out there. Along with Jess is a Mrs. Emily Morrice {who has been mentioned in several entries before}. These women not only teach me so much about life and marriage and mothering, they are also {and most importantly} mentors to me in their individual walks with God. Not only can I look to them as "accountabili-buddies" but also as friends.

My heart longs for Montreal.

The Lord has placed that city and the ministry that is there and that needs to be there SO strongly on my heart. As hard as it would be to leave Toronto and Oakville and all that I have grown to know and love here, I feel the Lord stirring up in me a heart and compassion for the work that needs to be done there.

Did you know there are only like FIVE evangelical churches in Montreal!? ... Talk about need!

Maybe one day they will send a Harvest there... *hint hint*

This dream will sadly have to wait though. {One more year till I graduate!}
I know that if God wants me there, it will happen. It will work out. I just wish there were more clarity right now about the future.

But alas, I know that God is both SOVEREIGN and GOOD and His way {and His timing} is perfect.

"'For I know the plans I have for you' declares the LORD, plans for peace and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and come and pray to Me, and I will hear you. You will seek Me and find Me, when you seek Me with all your heart. I will be found by you..." Jeremiah 29:11-14

That said... It's time to go work on my French homework! {Seems to make the dream more of a reality... can't move there unless I know the language, am I right!?}

Au revoir mes amis!

...Funny how all these pics have kids in them. We didn't really take pictures unless these cutest things around were in the room!

  1. can't wait to hit up Griffintown! I pass that often when I'm in that neck of the woods, called Griffintown or Little Burgundy is it's throw back name from decades ago :)

    Ah, I love Montreal too. So much. It's funny, you know you're a Montrealer when you're also a non-Torontonian. Soon to follow, your hockey allegiances.

    Love that pic of Lil, Thommy Tom, and myself. So random! She sure was smiling though :D

    We all miss you already!
